A day in the country
Just returned from a day in the country - well a day and a bit really.  We left Saturday morning and the sun was shining, the sky was blue.  Now at 5pm on Sunday, the sky is grey, it rained overnight and it’s getting chilly. We went for a belated Wedding reception in a little village called Ballanger.  When we got there, the local children’s cricket team were playing out back, the...

Resolutions for 2010
Well, we’ve got to 2010 just and what should we do to ensure that we get to 2011?   We all need resolutions, some of us more than others.  Do you have     any that you’ve already broken?  The trick - I’ve been told - is to       keep it to a short manageable list.  Seems easy - right?  I’ve chosen   those below and I’ll let you know how it goes in a month or so. Leave...

Avatar 3D - just seen it
We all went to see Avatar in 3D tonight. A little apprehensive at first about seeing a fantasy film as it’s not my kind of thing. I pulled on my glasses and took on my Joe 90 appearance. A few of us shuffled in our seats after about an hour. The film is over 2 hours long and feels like it. The effects are really good and the 3D works. The story, well… maybe see for yourself. I...

Car tax bought and not displayed, but not my...
So. I ordered my tax disc online before it was due. You give it five days, it turns up normally and it all works. It hasn’t turned up. I call DVLA and they say Royal Mail has lost it and they will send another. However, if the police stop me they will fine me for not displaying a disc. I’ve bought a disc though? I could pick one up from my local office, it’s only open weekdays...

Time Management - why don't you try it?
Mark Forster has come up with a way of managing time - it’s called the “Autofocus system”. I think I might try it! His website. It has a quick start guide. I’ll let you know how it goes, but it promises the following: :: a greatly increased volume of work :: a lack of stress :: focus on what is important :: very fast processing of routine actions :: thorough...

Need a solid framework for CSS design?
I’ve found a really easy way to cut down on CSS tweaking time. Blueprint is a CSS framework which gives you a solid CSS foundation to build your project on top of, with an easy-to-use grid, sensible typography, and even a stylesheet for printing. Just great! Have a look at it here http://www.blueprintcss.org/

Cluttered desktop?
A cluttered Windows desktop is an inefficient workspace according to Tech Republic blogs, so I followed their link to something called FENCES. If you have numerous icons littering your desktop, hunting for the one you need can often tick away priceless moments, but gain these back by using fences. It works really well if you present from your laptop and need a clean screen. One click and...

A day off
So, I’m at home. On a day off. What do I do? Nothing was planned, but I don’t want to do anything anyway. I want to veg. Can I veg? Should I veg? I think so. So I went up to the wardrobe and got rid of clothes that I should’ve ages ago. Stuff that just isn’t going to come back into fashion. Things that don’t fit. Things that I don’t need. I was...
